About us – What we do

Chronic Soul is a website that mainly features articles and comics about chronic illnesses, but also reviews about anything someone on the team decides to review, i.e. supplements, books, video games, movies or even food.

Chronic illnesses that might cause both physical and mental pain, are something nearly everyone will suffer at some point in our lives. Yet there often isn’t much interest in supporting this massive health issue, it’s basically accepted as either how life is supposed to be, or simply bad luck.

People with physical injuries are treated like drug addicts when they seek pain medication.

People with mental health issues either fall through the cracks of society or are written off as something that’s just in their head.

Autoimmune conditions are difficult to diagnose and poorly understood still. There seems to be little support in helping them figure out how to deal with the issues that arise and form a treatment plan.

Conditions such as Chronic Fatigue and Fibromyalgia have no formal diagnosis and patients are often just dismissed when everything easy has been tested for, without any real treatment plan to alleviate symptoms. Society poorly understands these conditions and people unfamiliar with them will just consider them as lazy instead of someone suffering through often both severe physical and mental pain and fatigue.

The common theme with chronic illness is that a lot of society doesn’t care too much about it. Bloodwork and scans can be inconclusive, and symptoms have a high variability between patients essentially suffering from the same problem. There is a high degree of difficulty in treating chronic pain. The medical system is therefore generally more focused on patients managing symptoms rather than curing them.

This site hopes to do its best to provide information and news on chronic illnesses, and also reviews on supplements and products that alleviate symptoms. However we don’t provide any medical advice, and you should always seek the help of your registered doctor.
